About SPATS

History

Established in February 1957 by the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) Missionaries, SPATS is the first technical school founded by the Catholic Church in Ghana. It began with just 18 students under its first principal, Rev. Father John Harpel, initially offering block-laying and concreting (later expanded to carpentry). Over the decades, the institution has grown into a respected centre for technical and vocational education, training skilled professionals who contribute to Ghana's industrial and technical development. The school was later absorbed into the national public school system under the Ghana Education Service (GES).
